Our History

The Waterbury Screw Machine Products Company is a 4th-generation family-owned and operated screw machine shop. We have a long history of resilience that reflects our team‘s dedication to the trade and outstanding service to our customers.

Screw Machine Products Made in the USA Since 1938

WSMP was founded in 1938 by Raymond E. Drouin, established in a modest facility on the Cheshire/Waterbury, Connecticut line with a small stable of single-spindle Brown & Sharpe screw machines.

A major fire in the mid-1940s would have wiped out many companies, but WSMP emerged stronger than ever. We regrouped, expanded and relocated to our current location on the Naugatuck River in Waterbury in 1947. Several of the screw machined parts we brought in-house around this time are still produced here to this day.

The infamous Flood of 1955 presented another major test, wiping out our building on Thomaston Avenue. Through the passion and hard work of our employees, we survived and rebuilt. Our current 13,000-square-foot facility was completed by 1964 and served us well ever since.

Under this roof, a fleet of Davenport multi-spindle screw machines has grown to 28 strong, with an experienced team of set-up and operation pros at the helm producing hundreds of different SKUs each year.

Waterbury has proven to be the perfect home for WSMP. The one-time “Brass Capital of the World” has a storied history of high-quality American manufacturing and has evolved into a melting pot of immigrants with both an amazing work ethic and technical abilities. All required secondary operations are a short drive away, and we are located close to all major shipping routes.

Drouin’s grandson, Matt Corcoran, has helmed the company since 1988. Under his leadership, WSMP has grown into a highly efficient operation shipping tens of millions of screw machined parts every year.
